warpath Posted February 18, 2018 Share #1 Posted February 18, 2018 German M42 helmet taken after the action at Gorgangnano Church and Cemetery, south of Bologna near Liverngnano, on April 16, 1945. There is a great combat story with this helmet and associated captured artifacts from the battle and I am still researching the material. I will post more when I am finished. The Germans had occupied the town long before the US troops fought there and the Germans had camouflaged their helmets and vehicles. The local buildings were all made of the same brick and the color was distinct throughout the region. This helmet along with most the US GI saw had been camouflaged to match the brick color.
