Here is my father-in law Corporal Lee C. Hummel, Company D, 346th Regiment, 87th Infantry Division, United States Army. Lee served in the Rhineland, Ardennes and Central-Europe campaigns. He was photographed in 1943 with his girlfriend (later wife) Irene. I think that this is the quintessential photograph of the young men who fought World War Two and the women who waited for them.
