Keystone Posted February 15, 2018 Share #1 Posted February 15, 2018 I just picked this one up off of ebay. Invented in 1910 by Commissary General Henry G. Sharpe to take the place of the "Armour Emergency ration". This type of ration was produced until November of 1913. This is the ration that is pictured in the Infantry Equipment Manual for the M1910 gear. The New York Times actually wrote an article praising the General and his invention. http://sundaymagazine.org/2010/11/a-days-meal-in-a-can-the-size-of-a-cake-of-soap/ According to the January 1920 issue of the Infantry Journal this ration was discontinued because it caused "nausea and dizziness" when consumed! This one is still sealed and the paint and writing are still in good shape. Tim
