We’ve discussed this over on G503 and a friend of mine fairly local is knowledgeable. He thinks the spare tracks will be serviceable. They are Israeli & run about $8k per pair. So, with bidding at $9k, you’re getting a fair deal.

“Will it start?” SOMEDAY!!!!!!!

I'd make sure to kick the tires before buying it. But then, it would look great as an ornament on my front lawn. It's got more green than my lawn has now.

Those tracks are VERY sensitive to storing conditions. If the rubber cracks water can reach the steel cables inside and that's the beginning of the end. Even NOS tracks that have been stored wrongly can be unusable. If stored correctly the Israeli tracks are very good though.

That being said, brand-new tracks are available again since last year. These are newly made for a company in The Netherlands and available in the US through an agent. I also heard a company in the US is tooling up to produce new tracks.

Quite the description addition...

On Feb-10-18 at 12:02:40 PST, seller added the following information:

I talked with my son. The Halftrack was stored at my house. The neighbor is dead. The present owner is 12 years old and has difficulties conversing. I am an attorney and am authorized to sell it. My son says the motor ran ok, when it was put down there about 6 years ago. Inside the engine I detect some recent spray and two cans of oil and two new round paint brushes. He says the track may have a problem. After that new tracks was obtained.
