A couple of years back I purchased the Minicraft "100 Years of Flight" kit because I needed a 1/144 C-47 for a diorama:

So I took the DC-3 out of the kit and used it in my "Flightline Bluie West One" display:

But that left three more aircraft and I didn't want to waste them.

So I took the Boeing C-98 and turned it into the "Bermuda Sky Queen," which went down in the North Atlantic in October 1947. All the passengers and crew were rescued by the crew of the USCG Bibb, which was homeported out of Boston. This is a diorama of the first part of this heroic rescue.

And of course then I had to turn the Revell USCGC Taney into the Bibb:

Next I transformed the Stratocruiser into a C-97 Stratofreighter from the New Hampshire Air Guard's 157th Wing, circa 1967:

And finally, turn the Connie into the Pegasus of the Navy's VXE-6 Antarctic "Puckered Penguins" which spent it's off season at NAS Quonset Point in Rhode Island.

All in all, had a lot of fun for the $25 it cost me for the kit!
