doyler Posted February 4, 2018 Share #5 Posted February 4, 2018 The CBI patch looks like one of the copies out of Mexico from a cew year ago,The maker/seller used pig skin to construct the patches. The graining of the leather on the back of the patch appears to be pig sking and not the thinner softer goat skin used in the CBI type patches. Thor996 Posted February 4, 2018 Share #6 Posted February 4, 2018 I agree with Ron, it [leather] looks very similar to the ones in this thread http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/88540-leather-patches/
BagmanL6 Posted February 4, 2018 Author Share #7 Posted February 4, 2018 Well that's disconcerting. Thanks gents.
tredhed2 Posted February 5, 2018 Share #8 Posted February 5, 2018 Not that your having a good day, but the ARC patch on the right was recently made, too. I agree with the others re: the ARC CBI patch. Leather skin is incorrect. Red Cross and disc are too crude and not uniform. The Red Cross should have been two pieces of leather, not painted on a disc. I have or have seen numerous CBI patches w/ lettering painted on, and the lettering here is an incorrect style, almost an Italic.
ocsfollowme Posted February 6, 2018 Share #9 Posted February 6, 2018 Not that your having a good day, but the ARC patch on the right was recently made, too. Some of the ARC circular patches during WW2 did have merrowed edges. The Military Welfare Service tends to be 50/50 made like this. No pigtails. vintageproductions Posted February 6, 2018 Share #10 Posted February 6, 2018 The welfare service looks WWII to me also
