lakenormanusa Posted February 2, 2018 Share #1 Posted February 2, 2018 I have an ID bracelet believed to belonged to a USAAF POW. It is engraved: Carl R. Loiocano 32832387 I have located information on Carl Russell Loiocano that states he was an aerial gunner in the 455th BG, 741st SQDN. It also shows him as a DFC & PH recipient along with being a POW at Sagen, Stalag Luft III in 1944. Is there a way to find more detailed information about his service record and the incident that occurred causing him to become a prisoner of war? tdogchristy90 Posted February 2, 2018 Share #8 Posted February 2, 2018 So I searched our POW database here at the museum. He is in our system, but nothing more than I already gave you in my first post. You were interested in what led to his capture so I'll say it again. Shot down during a mission over Austria, July 21, 1944. .

SRathman Posted December 13, 2019 Share #12 Posted December 13, 2019 Hey folks - I know this is an old thread, and I’m new to this forum, but I’m really hoping you still receive notification of this reply. Carl R. Loiocano is my grandfather - my aunt (Carl’s daughter) found this thread while doing some online ancestry research. I’d love to learn more about how the original poster found this bracelet. His story was really quite amazing; I was fortunate enough to hear it first-hand when I was older and in the Air Force myself. I had the opportunity to attend one of his squadron’s reunions with him - a remarkable group of Vets. Are you still around? Do you still have this bracelet? Thank you, Sean
