smwinter207 Posted March 17, 2018 Author Share #5 Posted March 17, 2018 Finally got a good portion of this patch collection. Actually ended up getting his doubles of these as well. Wil lia m H. R e e s name can be found in the Acknowledgements section of "The Ravens" book. He retired as a commercial pilot in 1997. Started his military career in 1956. Served in SE Asia from 1961-1965. gwb123 Posted March 17, 2018 Share #6 Posted March 17, 2018 The "Phantom" patch was a commercially available novelty patch, as opposed to a military patch. That is not to say it didn't have a different context for someone in the US Air Force.
smwinter207 Posted March 17, 2018 Author Share #7 Posted March 17, 2018 He flew T-33, T-37, F-86, F-84, F-5, T-28, B-26 and A-1 planes. F-5s are called Tiger? F-4s are Phantoms? His writeup didn't say F-4, but maybe he flew one too.
