MattS Posted January 28, 2018 Share #1 Posted January 28, 2018 I saw this in a shop yesterday. It's about 1" wide with a long straight pin on the back. Guessing it's a WW2 era sweetheart pin, but I defer to the experts.
MattS Posted January 28, 2018 Author Share #2 Posted January 28, 2018 Rear, as best as I could see it.
Brig Posted January 28, 2018 Share #3 Posted January 28, 2018 These were actually used as both. There is one version that has a disk capping the reverse of the globe, that I've never seen a match to which suggests that setup is strictly sweetheart. However, hollow globe pinbacks have been seen in period photos of officers on occasion
MattS Posted January 28, 2018 Author Share #4 Posted January 28, 2018 Thanks for that info, Brig. Is there any collector interest in this sort of EGA? And if so, what's it worth?
Brig Posted January 28, 2018 Share #5 Posted January 28, 2018 A bit, they aren't the most sought after. Depending on condition and hardware, usually 40-100. Price tends to depend on if someone needs the hardware setup for a match
MattS Posted January 28, 2018 Author Share #6 Posted January 28, 2018 I can buy it for $50 plus tax so if anyone here needs, let me know.
stucky151 Posted January 28, 2018 Share #7 Posted January 28, 2018 Buy it for yourself and do a BIN on ebay for 75...
MattS Posted January 28, 2018 Author Share #8 Posted January 28, 2018 Buy it for yourself and do a BIN on ebay for 75... Good idea, thanks but my luck in selling things lately has sucked and I don't need a $50 EGA sitting around.
teufelhunde.ret Posted January 29, 2018 Share #9 Posted January 29, 2018 Have seen these most often used on standup collars of officer uniforms in early 20s photos. Once rolled collars with the eye sewn in became more widely used these faded into oblivion. As Brig insinuates, not the most memorable emblem ever worm.
