Hello,

ok, I have this lid which was directly found on the battlefield many years ago.at Le Ham, a small hamlet near Montebourg. Both shell and liner are marked and named to a GIEROK.

It has fixed bales wich were welded after the red crosses were painted. On the strap, an American Red Cross label was fixed and GIEROX is written on it.

Hope you will enjoy,

Cheers,

BILL THE PATCH

How many with that name?, I would definitely spend the money to research all of them up to maybe ten names. Doesn't seem like it's a common name. Beautiful helmet.

Do you have a picture of the liner?

You might check with Ancestry.

They might have become a doctor?

What American units went through that area?

It's an awesome helmet.

Love Normandy.

I would start with these two, looks like relatives from Minnesota:

1) Charles A. Gierok (37594532), enlisted 5/8/44

2) Ignatz "Iggy" C. Gierok (36277406), enlisted 10/22/42
