Here are two I recently acquired. #1 Richard F Bilodeau PFC US Army 20270660 born 02/09/1920 and was from New York Mills, NY. Pvt Bilodeau was federalized from New York National Guard on 15 OCT 1940. He was assigned the 27th Infantry Division, 106th Infantry Regiment, 3rd Battalion HQ Company. The 27th ID was involved in the amphibious assault of Saipan, Marianas Islands. The 106th landed on June 20th, 1944 and was heavily involved in the fighting for Purple Heart Ridge and Death Valley. Pvt Bilodeau was killed on 30 June 1944. Garth Thompson Posted January 19, 2018 Author Share #2 Posted January 19, 2018 #2 Wilbert C Peterson 2nd Lieutenant US Army Air Corps O-736726 was from Chicago, Illinois. Lt Peterson was the bombardier on B-17 #42588 “Elusive Elcy” which was shot down by german fighter aircraft on 27 September 1943 near Norden, north of Emden Germany and crashed near Schoowerth Germany. There was one survivor from the crew, tail gunner Dick Scott who became a POW. The aircraft and crew came from the 331st Bomber Squadron, 94th Bomber Group (Heavy). Most seem to be coming from relatives that have no one to pass them on to. Without collectors like us, these pieces of history would be lost forever.
