Fratlanta Posted January 17, 2018 Share #1 Posted January 17, 2018 Just got this book for christmas about Chateauroux (France), my hometown, and how the American base that stayed there from 1951 to 1967 changed this small country city forever. lots of interesting pictures and anecdotes (including stories with native Gerard Depardieux). It would be interesting to see if anybody on this forum is somewhat affiliated with this base . from wiki: Châteauroux-Déols Air Base (IATA: CHR, ICAO: LFLX) is a former United States Air Force base in France. It is located in the Indre département of France, located about 5 km (3 mi) northeast of Châteauroux. During the Cold War, Châteauroux-Déols was a front-line base for the United States Air Forces in Europe (USAFE). The base was home to some 8,000 Americans between 1951 and 1967.
