sprite63 Posted January 13, 2018 Share #1 Posted January 13, 2018 Found this among my fathers belongings but have never seen one before and puzzled by the lack of a unit identification. Very similar to lapel pins but the screw backing indicates it is not. The badge is approx 1 inch across. Can Anyone provide info?
KurtA Posted January 13, 2018 Share #2 Posted January 13, 2018 It is a collar disk. Dates from the 1930's to very early 1940's. Generally speaking, these screwback collar disks were replaced by clutch back disks pretty early in WW2. The corresponding "US" collar disk commonly would have had the numerical unit designation. sprite63 Posted January 13, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted January 13, 2018 Thanks for the info Kurt, the screw back is something I didn't know about on these. Still puzzled about the lack of a unit designation, no indication that there was one that may have come off.
KurtA Posted January 14, 2018 Share #4 Posted January 14, 2018 Still puzzled about the lack of a unit designation, no indication that there was one that may have come off. Check my other post. The disk on the other collar lapel would have a unit designation # under the "US."
