InfantryCollector Posted January 12, 2018 Share #1 Posted January 12, 2018 Picked up these two recently and thought I would share. I believe both to be wartime originals, but as a new collector, figured it couldn't hurt either to post. Regards, John

tredhed2 Posted January 13, 2018 Share #5 Posted January 13, 2018 If you are asking about the 741st Tk Bn and the 70th Armd Regt, the 741st is WW II period. With all the extra khaki medium protruding from the edge, the 70th appears to be post war.
InfantryCollector Posted January 13, 2018 Author Share #6 Posted January 13, 2018 If you are asking about the 741st Tk Bn and the 70th Armd Regt, the 741st is WW II period. With all the extra khaki medium protruding from the edge, the 70th appears to be post war. Thank you for confirmation on the 741st patch! I am going to post some better pics this weekend of the edges of the 70th Btl. patch. There are area's around the edges with none of the khaki base cloth remaining. I've read that cut edge patches that have an excess of the khaki base cloth around the edges are considered to be Korean War era. I guess what I'm trying to understand better is where the line is? This patch, for example, has some of the khaki base cloth in areas and none in others. I've seen other cut edge patches with at least 1/16" khaki all around - this is definitely not that. phillock Posted January 17, 2018 Share #12 Posted January 17, 2018 As per Tredhed The protruding khaki medium was typical of post WWII-50's Triangles. Below is 61st Heavy Tank Bn activated May 1948 (9th Inf. Div). Your one is 70th Tank Bn 48-50's I st Cav. Apologies for poor pics off to work.
