mikie Posted January 11, 2018 Share #1 Posted January 11, 2018 I picked up these small photos of General MacArthur sometime in the deep mists of time. They are not part of a set. I have never seen these exact views so am wondering if they are actual GI or sailor snaps or are they published? Anyone recognize them? Also, does anyone know what that structure is behind Mac's head in the first pic? Thanks in advance for any ideas here. I'll be logging out now, but I shall return! Austin R Posted January 11, 2018 Share #2 Posted January 11, 2018 Hi Mikie, I did a reverse image search of them and came up with no results. My initial though was they were massed produced during the period. However, the fact that I couldn't find another one makes me think it could be original. Could you provide measurements of the photos and photos of the back?
mikie Posted January 11, 2018 Author Share #3 Posted January 11, 2018 Thanks for looking, Austin. I have given it a go every so often for a while now with the same results. It's good to have another set of eyes take a look. The beach photo is about 4x5 inches. The black ink has a silver shine to it when looked at it an angle. The other is slightly smaller, and looks like just a standard print. Both are blank on the back and made of what feels like standard old snapshot paper from the period. It's nice to think that they are original shots. If I remember correctly, I got them in a bundle of wartime paper items and patches, just odds and ends, over 20 years ago at a flea market.
