Need Emblem ID, Unit Of Origin

I came across this recently on eBay and wanted to post it to see if anyone recognizes it. The listing states that this was the design of the 31stObsSqdn, but that outfit adopted a Woody Woodpecker design. It's possible this might have been an earlier-later emblem for the squadron, but here's an additional fly-in-the-ointment; Neither the 31stRcnSqdn nor the 31stTacRcnSqdn had approved emblems in WWII, meaning there is nothing on file in the official AF records regarding insignia for either squadron. If anyone can provide any information regarding this Disney-ish design, I'll be tickled pink to hear from you.

P.S. That crow might be Heckle or Jeckle, which would make this possibly a Warner Bros/Schlesenger creation.

Patchcollector

It may be the 12th Observation,(or Reconnaissance) Squadron.

Here is an image of one of the units' more modern insignia.

After a bit of cross checking and dusting off a few old files it looks like this design

was just what the text copy states in Johnny's poster image; 31stRcnSqdn of the

303dBombGp.

This squadron was constituted on 28 Jan 1942. activated 3 Feb and disbanded on 16 March.

Makes me wonder why the AAF even bothered to form this squadron in the first place.

Thanks for the feedback on this topic
