Vintage Bowie Knife

It's whats commonly thought of as the second version of the Western W49/Bowie. The General consensus is that it was made between 1966 and 1967. That's approximate at best, as nobody seems to have uncovered any hard documents from Western when it comes to specific dates when they made changes. Starting in 1977 Western decided to include a letter stamped on many of their knives as a date code starting with A. This practice was continued under the Coleman Company ownership of Western until 1992 when it was sold at auction to Camillus. A thru O date codes can be found on Western knives to give you the date of manufacture.
