Robswashashore Posted December 15, 2017 Share #1 Posted December 15, 2017 I have a couple of 1/72 model 2.5 ton WWII trucks left over in my stash and wondered if I could use them in another diorama-- this one is a Curtiss SC-1 Seahawk at Squantum Naval Air Station near the end of the war. Would a truck like that be used at a Naval Air Station? Or should I put the trucks back into my stash for another build? Thanks! Jean
hbtcoveralls Posted December 15, 2017 Share #2 Posted December 15, 2017 During WWII the Navy department purchased International Harvester trucks The M-4-2 was the 1.5 ton truck and the M-5 H-6 was the 6X6 2.5 ton truck They look quite a lot different from the GMC product GMC 2.5 ton trucks would not have typically been used on a navy base but in the theater of operations Navy units, and especially Seabees did use GMC trucks when they could "find" them as well as other Army or AAF units of various types. Here is a photo of an M5-H6 Tom Bowers
