king802 Posted December 19, 2017 Share #151 Posted December 19, 2017 Sorry to bump this thread again guys, but I believe there should be a link to the ongoing and more in depth discussion for anyone who finds this thread later: http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/178391-usmc-wwii-frogskin-covers-rethinking-the-norm/page-10 Regards, -Steve So Troys post has been totally dismissed- he posts an ID'd helmet issued to a Marine in WW2 and all you can do is re-post a link that concurs with your theory. What are your thoughts on Troys cover ? It deserves to be discussed.

What are your thoughts on Troys cover ? It deserves to be discussed. I agree there were two groupings of helmets with slitless covers from veterans who served late in the war with rock solid provenance. So I think at least for now we know slitless covers were definitively used late in the war. And the argument that its hard to tell from photos goes both ways. I mean this with no animosity and have quite enjoyed learning new things in all the frogskin threads.
Screamingeagles101 Posted December 19, 2017 Author Share #153 Posted December 19, 2017 Guys, how about this one on EBay. It belonged to a KIA marine .. https://rover.ebay.com/rover/0/0/0?mpre=https%3A%2F%2Fwww.ebay.com%2Fulk%2Fitm%2F182851819877 Sent from my iPhone using Tapatalk

A poor attempt at adding a name to a bad helmet to enhance the value. -Steve
Pegasus6 Posted December 19, 2017 Share #155 Posted December 19, 2017 Eagles, This is a fake. I actually did my own research on it and ranks and names don't add up with the documents nor the awards. Then I found later it was discussed on the forum and a member of that actual community that knew the Family that this member "Belonged to" yea nope. I think the thread was under the real or what. But yea its not. Even my reading into brought up red flags. This is NOT the real Soldiers helmet. That real Soldier was war hero tho. That listings been bouncing on Ebay for a while. -Peg6 Guys, how about this one on EBay. cmaher55 Posted December 20, 2017 Share #158 Posted December 20, 2017 Yep, too good to be true it is probably not true.... Ebay Humper, remember their ebay ID, record it, and never buy from them, never ever in the future. I have a list of humpers going back 18 years on Ebay, they change their ID's now and then but you can tell by their listing style, they use the same backgrounds more or less over and over. You can recognize their way of photography, the angles, the lighting, the words they use for descriptions, the slightly out of focus shots to lure you in but not show enough of the "faking" efforts....
