A recent pick-up, an unissued Kinfolks M4 in factory box, with M8A1 scabbard and leg tie. First time I've seen an original Kinfolks box. I did add the wax paper insert.

Beautiful. I've mentioned this before but it amazes me that so many of the knife makers during the WW2 time period were in western and south western NY. Little Valley, where this knife was made, is a beautiful small town in rural southwest NY.

You can blame it on the Erie Canal. This is what turned the region into the manufacturing center of the United States for many things besides knives. Add in steam powered engines, and people no longer had to locate their factory near a large supply of water, which was the main source of large supplies of power to reduce the amount of "Man and animal power" necessary to automate things that before had to be done by hand. The infrastructure that grew up around those area's kept the region viable and profitable long after the canal had to start competing with other modes of transportation.
