USdog Posted December 11, 2017 Share #1 Posted December 11, 2017 Just picked this up on a buy it now last week since I had never seen one. I contacted Eric Queen here on the forum and he was kind enough to shed some light on it. This was a dog tag issued to a dog donated to the Dogs For Defense program, which was formed in 1942, to procure and train dogs for military purposes. I am told these tags were issued once the dogs were procured and in training. They got replacement serial numbers/tags once they were assigned to a specific unit. I'm hoping somewhere out there they have records so I could possibly match the tag to the dog it belonged to! Thanks for looking...

vintageproductions Posted December 11, 2017 Share #3 Posted December 11, 2017 There is a person I found on a internet search that has most of the records of the dogs that were donated and can cross check by the service numbers
