on-to-berlin Posted December 8, 2017 Share #1 Posted December 8, 2017 I just got this beret. Since I am more into Vietnam equipment I would like to have opinions on that beret. Always wanted one and this one has a true 7 1/4 size. Personally I think the beret itself is legit and also the flash. Not sure about the crest. Flash also looks later applied since the thread that was used looks to new in contrast to the flash.

QED4 Posted December 8, 2017 Share #5 Posted December 8, 2017 I don't mean to be negative here and I am sure that a lot of people will disagree with me. But all of the Canadian green berets showing up lately really makes me wonder, granted in he beginning the Special Forces imported Canadian berets because American made berets were not available but it seems that about every other Special Forces beret you see now is Canadian. Given that Canadian rifle regiments wore green berets, hence the name Rifle Green, there are plenty of them out there and not worth much with a Canadian slider attached but add a US Special Forces flash and you have a big buck item. The one in question here even has the pocket for the slider and it seem that by 1973 there would have been plenty of US made berets available and no need to import Canadian ones. For me I would need iron clad provenance to believe a Canadian made SF beret is the real thing and not some one using real insignia to make something worth way more than the sum of the parts.
