Dave Posted December 7, 2017 Share #1 Posted December 7, 2017 This is the sort of thing that for someone like me, who's trying to pin down the dates certain times of engraving were used, is really exciting...this Purple Heart with 1989 dated certificate popped up on eBay. It's clearly a replacement, but the neat thing is that the certificate is dated 1989, and I'd feel very comfortable saying that the medal was engraved probably at the same time. This gives us the "top end" range of the sans-serif official government engraving on medals, before they switched over to the serif semi-trophy shop font seen in Gulf War pieces. Thought you all might be interested! Pics taken from the auction for future reference!Dave
