I was thinking of starting a collection of used SSI from all the infantry divisions to start. I was wondering if someone has done this or something similar and would like to share some pictures. Thanks

Thanks jack for sharing. You have quite the collection with different variants. I was thinking it might be different if I could find patches that were pretty worn with that been there look. Thread still left on them or something to that effect.

Believe it or not we all started out with that idea for a collection. Your idea goes back over 70 years and you will see plenty of examples of those collections on the forum especially patch albums that were bought from the Patch King; these albums were mint condition patches not the been there look that you want.

Thanks for the reply. I have seen a lot of patch collections and groups but don't remember ever seeing one with used up patches. I will give it a go and start looking for worn out patches or roached out uniforms I can take them off of.

Ive had several customers over the years with the same idea, wanting that been there look. There is something to be said for a patch that has seen some action, rather than one thats just sat inside a box.

I have a few patches now and am starting to figure out how I want to display them. First thought was a big poster frame and label each patch. Anyone got more ideas for display?

I once owned a desk with a thick plate glass top for a writing surface. The go as just rested on the top of the desk I often thought about laying patches under the glass.Never got it done and the desk was given to my sister to use.

I like em all, pulled off of uniforms & mint. Back in the early '70s, all I could ever find were used patches. Now, the "mint" WWII patches seem to be more common...
