Baikeur Posted November 26, 2017 Share #1 Posted November 26, 2017 Hi, I'm in possession of this bayonet: Someone say to me that the anti rust protection was make after the fabrication maybe recently. His argument: mat aspect and maker stamp very superficial. What you guys think about it ? Thanks,
SKIPH Posted November 26, 2017 Share #2 Posted November 26, 2017 Beikeur- Based on the photos, I believe you have a legitimate WW2 PAL M1905 bayonet, with correct, original scabbard. The finish looks correct, blade appears to have very little use, parkerizing (gray) seems correct for a PAL. Due to lack of scabbard wear on blade, it appears to have little us. The handle grips look a little rough, and I am not sure if PAL used brown grips on their M1905 bayonets, may have been replaced. Scabbard is correct. I believe you have a very nice bayonet. 268th C.A. Posted November 26, 2017 Share #3 Posted November 26, 2017 It looks as the grips may be painted brown due to the gloss ?
Baikeur Posted November 26, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted November 26, 2017 For the grip, It seems they were cover by wax for stockage and transportation. I'm a little confuse, because I think it was a M1 and not M1905, no ?
m1ashooter Posted November 26, 2017 Share #5 Posted November 26, 2017 either your bayonet is unissued or it has been refinished. Either way I think is a really nice M1905 bayonet. I've posted a link that will help you. It was put together by a member of our group who was a wonderful man, sadly he passed away. http://www.usmilitaryknives.com/bayonet_points.htm

lambo35 Posted November 26, 2017 Share #7 Posted November 26, 2017 I believe the M1 model was the purpose made 10 inch version. Chuck
thorin6 Posted November 27, 2017 Share #8 Posted November 27, 2017 It looks as the grips may be painted brown due to the gloss ? I think you are right; here is a picture of my AFH 1942 reddish-brown grips. They almost look black in pictures.
Baikeur Posted November 27, 2017 Author Share #9 Posted November 27, 2017 Hi, The person who sell me this bayonet, said that the grip are covered by some wax to protect during transport.
