Today at the flea market I picked up 3 military photo albums from 3 different soldiers. The best of the lot belonged to Melvin Earl Flynn (RA17295690). He served from 1950 until 1971. He died in Arkansas in 1979.

The photo album cover the period of the Korean War. It includes his award certificate for the Bronze Star, copies of the General Orders awarding him the medal, witness statements by 3 officers who viewed his bravery, and 118 photographs. Many of the photos are annotated. After the Korean War service he apparently went to paratrooper school becase ther are a numbers of photos documenting that training.

First his award certificate.

Very nice!  I believe you're correct, that is the Mundung-Ni valley.  31st Infantry was there 1951-1952.  My grandfather was there with the 31st and six months later my Uncle was in the same area when the 45th Div took over!

Most of the photos in this album are mounted with photo corners, so I have been pulling them out to look for annotations on the reverses. About 1/4 of the photos are annotated. I found this one interesting.
