easterneagle87 Posted November 25, 2017 Share #1 Posted November 25, 2017 OK, so this framed grouping is hanging in a local antique store. Some good pieces, but I have questions and doubts. Great black and white snaps, a lettered (Japanese?) strip. If this veteran was a Marine, wouldn't the MP arm band be red and yellow? The Sgt First Chevrons are Army style. Shouldn't they be a different color? I'm not doubting the content. The family may have improvised with other items to make the display complete. The veterans name is: William (Bill) Lucky Gilespie. Austin R Posted November 25, 2017 Share #3 Posted November 25, 2017 Red and Yellow Marine Corps Armbands were not used during WWII. However, the armband you have is usually associated with army MPs. WWII marine armbands Used a thicker lettering. My guess is the family purchased the armband and ranks to make a display or they are from another family member. EDIT: Here is a photo showing the thick letter marine version
