stratasfan Posted November 20, 2017 Share #1 Posted November 20, 2017 Well, I want to make a patch that was on the green wool like the WWI PFC round patches (same as other rank patches, etc. Also seen some WWII unit patches on similar fabric). Well, even with over 100 colours of specialty wool felt, I don't have a colour that matches. Does anyone know if there is a way to get some wool like those patches are made of? You know, can you find unused wool or is there a blanket or uniform part that is really similar? Hoping that someone who knows the patches can compare items to see. Thanks for any thoughts! patches Posted November 22, 2017 Share #2 Posted November 22, 2017 It's a tough one really in regards to using period WWI uniforms and or WWII-50s blankets, one would be loathed to cut these up, so unless you find and buy a totally distressed item, one that's totally shot, we wouldn't advise you go there. Cloth of this type is out there for sure, as there are a ton of companies that make repro WWI uniforms, but I've haven't the foggiest notion on where they acquire their OD wool, perhaps others can lend their aid. doyler Posted November 22, 2017 Share #3 Posted November 22, 2017 WW2 overcoat is a thicker wool material. You may be able to source one in poor condition.
