bill59 Posted November 18, 2017 Share #1 Posted November 18, 2017 It is the back of a watch up for auction. The watch is highly suspect but sometimes the casebacks are real. Thanks. Bill
Steve B. Posted November 18, 2017 Share #2 Posted November 18, 2017 I don't pretend to be an expert on watches, engraving or any other questions in this thread, but two things jumped out at me: Does the U.S. Navy have an Ordnance CORPS? I'm not 100% certain, but I think they have an Ordnance Bureau. Why is ORD. all in caps, but Corps is not? Why does it read Serial Nr. and not Serial No.? Nr. is a typical German/European abbreviation for nummer/number, while in the U.S. we typically use No. or #. Just a few random thoughts, but without damn good explanations, I would find the markings suspect.
bill59 Posted November 19, 2017 Author Share #3 Posted November 19, 2017 That’s really helpful, thanks. Having researched Buships in their development of watch specs I getthe Navy should have Bureaus now. Little things are what trips people up. This is indeed a mess. Cheers.
