gap Posted November 15, 2017 Share #1 Posted November 15, 2017 Can anyone help I.D. this knife. I initially thought it was an unmarked Camillus Mark 1 No.7 variation as described in Cole's book, but the blade length is only 4 3/4 inches. It was from a WW2 vets personal belongings. Thanks in advance.

Charlie Flick Posted November 15, 2017 Share #13 Posted November 15, 2017 It is a Pilot Survival Knife from the mid-'50s to early '60s. Made by Camillus, Imperial and Schrade. Cole mistakenly listed it with the Mark I 5 inch blades but that was an error. It was later supplanted by the Jet Pilot Knife. gap Posted November 15, 2017 Author Share #14 Posted November 15, 2017 Wow, great work! Thanks Charlie! Is the scabbard correct? Any way to determine which of the three manufacturers this one belongs to? Shouldn't there be a maker's mark? Also, this blade is 4 3/4 inches, is that correct or was it ground possibly? Charlie Flick Posted November 15, 2017 Share #15 Posted November 15, 2017 Yep, that is the correct sheath. Take a look at this old thread for further info. http://www.usmilitariaforum.com/forums/index.php?/topic/150814-an-unissued-imperial-pilot-survival-knife/?hl=aircrew Regards, Charlie
gap Posted November 15, 2017 Author Share #16 Posted November 15, 2017 It appears mine may be the "sterile" version made by Camillus. Very cool. Charlie, thanks for the link, but the pix are no longer there.
DRE66 Posted November 15, 2017 Share #17 Posted November 15, 2017 It appears to be reground. At some point it was probably thrown at a tree and the tip broke off. ?

That would explain the missing 1/4 inch! I think you are correct Dre.
