I was poking around my garage today and rediscovered these. A few years back a seller at the swap meet had two crates full of covers. I spent a few hours looking at each and every one. I pulled the ones that were personalized in some way. I have 30 pictured and If I remember right I should have another 20 or so in another box. The majority came out of 29 Palms or Pendleton. Some have no makers marks at all, most are from the 90's-01. I plan to make this a long post by showing each and every one a few at a time.

Cap Camouflage Pattern I

Very nice, I have around 80 personalized ones I've pulled of out several lots of hundreds. There were another 50 or so that sold on eBay for $5-20 each, I didn't have the money to buy them but I would have. I guess the soldiers and marines had a lot of time sitting in the desert with nothing to do during Desert Shield. Do you mind if I post mine?

This one also looks to me like it once had a 2x2" glint tape square sewn to the top with tan thread. I think I see a shadow where it blocked the fading from the sun and some loose tan thread.

Some have that 2x2 sewn on and others don't.

If any of you have these type personalized covers please feel free to post here. I realy think in time these will be collectable in thier own right. The varyations are enough to be of interest down the road. IMHO.

This cover has no makers mark, date, number or EGA. To the right it has the word "Desert" next to a shield with the word "Shield" inside. The date "12 Aug 90" is below the word "Desert". On the left is the word "Desert" next to the word "Storm" Storm is spelled vertically in the shape of a tornado. To the right of that is a lightning bolt. Above the word desert is the date "15 JAN 91" Below everything is a design that looks like an elongated 8 on its side. I am not sure if this has any meaning.

This cover is marker marked ------ITY WORK SHOP INC., DLA100---- , ---15-01-.... It has a silk screened EGA on the front and a silk screened square to the rear. I assume this marks the spot the reflective square is to be sewn. Above the EGA a the eyes of a demon can be seen and to the right of the helmet something that looks like the punisher.

EGA on front, probably an Iron on. 1x1 glint tape sewn on top

I have noticed no pattern as to why some have no EGA and others do. Some times covers made by Abilities and Community Work shop have them and some times they do not. Some times the EGA is silk screened or its an ink stamp. As for the no maker covers they seem to also be random. What is the break down on your collection?

This cover is maker marked, dated and numbered and has no EGA. The inside is inked with the owners initials and last four of his s/n. Two foot onion is inked on the back with a drawing of 11 (two) a foot print and an onion. This is a Marine fraternal order of some kind. On the left are the letters "G.K.C.A." I have no idea what this stands for. Below that is the owners last name and the last four of his s/n.
