1/35 civilian figures

Hey guys,

 

I'm new to this site, but this looks like a place I can get some help.

 

I'm planning a large 1/35 scale diorama of a "dream museum". Looking to put some normal visitors in the building. Anyone know where I can get 1/35 civilian figures? I need men, women, and children in various poses. Hope to have family groups, 1 or 2 school class groups (1 elementary, 1 older teen), museum staff (secretaries, gift shop clerk, restoration volunteers, guides, etc). Some GI's, Marines or Sailors in Class B's would be great, too. Just not a place where combat poses would fit real well.

 

I found some excellent vehicles for the parking lot in "close-enough-to-scale" at wally world. But I haven't found any school buses in the right scale. I'm not a great scratch builder, so that's pretty much out.

 

The concept is to start with a 4' x 8' layout, but on 2' x 2' panels for easier relocation if/when necessary. That way, it is also expandable when more space is available.

Model railroad companies are probably your best bet. 1 gauge is 1:32, which is close enough.

The figures you recommend look exactly like what I'm looking for, EXCEPT 1/32 is NOT close enough.

 

 

 

The overhead view of the M8 by Monogram (1/32) and the M20 by Tamiya (1/35) shows the vehicle size variance.

 

 

The two tankers side by side are the 1/35 on the left and the 1/32 on the right. Using 1/32 scale figures would make them all giants.

 

 

The 3 basic mid range MV model scales--great if using a shadowbox and wanting to add depth, but this will be a table top dio.

 

 

Researching train scales 1 saw only one chart that showed a "1" scale as being 1/36. That I could live with, but couldn't find any other references to that conversion. Some of the dioramas in the "Great Models" post had great figures, wonder where they got them.

If you need to maybe you can use the larger scale for adults and smaller scale figures for children?....mike

What about Verlinden Products?

They have civilian figures.

They don't make the types of figures I'd want. I'd want modern civilians who are overweight and badly dressed (socks with sandals, fanny packs and digital cameras all the way) with WW2 vehicles for diorama of a re-enactor display in modern times.

Also, I'd want WW2 European civilians feeling (preferably wounded as well) in the face of the "terrible Allied forces" come to smite their peaceful little village. Better yet, I want a civilian horse cart driver or steam locomotive engineer jumping off as he's being strafed by a bored P-47 pilot! How about a pack of British or German children wondering why they got locked out of the bomb shelter?
