order no question

Probably a dummy question, but when I see an item marked "order no....PHILA-44-63", then when was the item produced?

My guess a contract from 1944, produced in 1963?

Are you sure it is 63?

You are basically correct, PHILA is Philidelphia. This must had been where the Signal Corps purchasing office was located. The -44 is the fiscal year of the contract. The -## at the end is the Class number of the equipment. Every piece of equipment is classed as something, for example Class-29 is Signal Lamp Equipment. The 63 you say this is, is way to high for Signal Corps equipment, or least the list I have. Can you post an image of the data plate?

Ok! so contract of 1944, but second number is NOT a production year! So the item could still be 44-45 produced or actually there is no way of dating it exact...
