It's been under construction now for about 2 years. Getting close to the finish line now. Paint the walls and ceiling this weekend. Then lay the carpet, install the lights, and start setting up my own museum. Man, I can't hardly wait to unpack those boxes!
This is the upstairs.

And the vehicle storage area. You can see the door that leads into the previously pictured areas in the background.

The AK is for mice control. Scares them away without firing a shot.

Building? Building?? He gets to have a building?? Thats so not fair! :o

Hah, only joking. Your one lucky devil to have your own building to display your collection, I would personally move into it and live with my collection. :)

robinb:

So, what are your long term plans? Will you open your collection up to the public? If you plan on doing so, how do you envision making it happen? How do you manage your collection inventory and aquisitions? Do you have some specific collection goals in mind; what are they? You said that your facility has been under construction for two years now. When did you make the decision to expand into a purpose built location? Would you share a little about how long you've been collecting and how your collecting efforts evolved to where you are today?

I know that all sounds like an interogation; I don't intend it to be. I would just really like to hear more about your ideas and plans. It always nice to see success in action, and yours is an example that I'm sure we can all learn something from. Even if I never build my collection to the scale that you're achieving, it's inspiring to see what is possible.

So, please, tell us more.

Mike

WOW! That's a huge building for a collection! I can't wait to see what it looks like when you're finished.

Any chance of pictures of the outside of the building?

Out of curiosity - how much does something like this cost to build?

hi robinb, Nice museum buildings you have there, I see the Dodge weapons carrier from the rear, however I am intrigued by the closed cab vehicle in front of it, are we looking at a Dodge half ton pick up, I can't quite see enough of it to be sure what it is, maybe a Dodge half ton carryall http://www.usmilitar...tyle_emoticons/default/think.gif ??????

Cheers ( Lewis )

If it is either of the two vehicles mentioned above, then these are firm favourites of mine, along with the long wheel base closed cab GMC. http://www.usmilitar...tyle_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif

that's an incredible space to have! very cool!

based on recent forum threads concerning theft, I am sure you must have pondered and made allowance for a very secure alarm system.

keep us posted on your progress and thanks for sharing! http://www.usmilitar...tyle_emoticons/default/thumbsup.gif

Hi robinb, thanks for the info on the Chevy truck, I had a fifth wheel version of the Chevy truck, the guy I sold it to replaced the fifth wheel for a bomb hoist and marked it up USN torpedo loader.

yeah, Obama's in, I want that thing there and that one over there and oh yes got to have the one in the corner. But that AK there I can't get that, Obama gonna take that one away. I don't have any of that, it's not fair, you know, that you have so much and an underprivileged person like me has so little, President Obama will send some of that my way. Great stuff you have there! http://www.usmilitar...tyle_emoticons/default/w00t.gif
