tony75 Posted October 28, 2017 Share #1 Posted October 28, 2017 Hello What are your thoughts on this EGA? Is it sweet heart or something else Thank you Tony
BagmanL6 Posted October 28, 2017 Share #2 Posted October 28, 2017 Good morning. Looks like a loop is broken off the top at the head of the eagle? Probably designed to be worn on a chain I'd think. Curious as to others' opinions.
Brig Posted October 28, 2017 Share #3 Posted October 28, 2017 Plastic? Looks like a charm you'd get in a Cracker Jack box or egg machine or similar
tony75 Posted October 28, 2017 Author Share #4 Posted October 28, 2017 Hi Yes it is plastic. It came with a bunch of EGAs I picked-up yesterday at a flea market. There were a few more of those plastic ones, but they were not blue. Just regular screw backs Thanks guys Tony
Bluehawk Posted October 28, 2017 Share #5 Posted October 28, 2017 Looking at the piece, it appears to be or almost certainly is a recast, from an original EGA; not an especially good quality recast, in that the overfill wasn't even filed off decently and the fine details from any original are pretty lousy. I can see someone just giving something like that a try, for the heck of it. And, were I to be an EGA collector, I might probably want to have one of those just to have one! And now, a true EGA collector is going to step forward and say, "Those were made by POWs in Singapore during the 1940s when bronze was scarce. Very rare item!" Hi Yes it is plastic. Brig Posted October 28, 2017 Share #6 Posted October 28, 2017 It's not any known insignia pattern...I believe it to be a homefront piece, likely the broken part on top was a loop for suspension
