JDK Posted November 6, 2008 Share #1 Posted November 6, 2008 Here's one of my more recent pickups. It's a great groupof Items from a B-24 Waist Gunner that flew with the758th Bomb Squadron 459th Bomb Group 15th AAF Italy. He was credited with 50 missions although he actually flew35. Some missions counted as two. I can only guess thatit was due to length of time in the air. He flew on 2 different B-24's Hellzapoppin and Rubbercheck: He was on 2 raids to Ploesti, as well as runs over Germany,Austria, and Italy. The lot also includes a wartime diary inwhich he wrote detailed accounts of every mission. The diary is fascinating!! He details a mission where he knockeddown a ME-109 and then had all the crew members sign it.Anyhow, enjoy the pics J.D.
