12thengr Posted October 27, 2017 Share #1 Posted October 27, 2017 Current war in southern Philippines. Looks like the lead man and possibly the next are carrying M-1 Garands. The other picture shows M-14's.
Brian Dentino Posted October 27, 2017 Share #2 Posted October 27, 2017 Interesting photos. Just goes to show what a great weapon platform the M1 is/was and how robust and reliable they are! Oh, and they are great to shoot too!
MWalsh Posted October 28, 2017 Share #3 Posted October 28, 2017 With the donation of AKs by Russia and the canceling of a US rifle deal, the next set of pics like this might be with those guys carrying AKs instead. Pictures like the one with the soldier with the Garand nicely illustrate how some of those rifles get worn like they do, and where and how the wear comes from. After the many decades of service that thing has put in, it would be curious how well the finish and wood have held up. What a testament to the durability of those old Garaands too! BEAST Posted October 30, 2017 Share #6 Posted October 30, 2017 Not surprising to see the M1 still in service. It appears that the Queens Guards have chosen the M1 while on duty at Buckingham Palace.
