prestoncohunter Posted October 24, 2017 Share #1 Posted October 24, 2017 Found this pocket knife at my FILs the other day. No sign of a military marking or date on it but the only reference I have found on the web about it refers to it as a Navy Sheepfoot Pocket knife. It is about 2.5 inches long closed. The only markings are: Kutmaster Utica, NY Made in USA Any info is appreciated.
prestoncohunter Posted October 24, 2017 Author Share #2 Posted October 24, 2017 Maybe should mention that my FIL was in the Navy as a SeaBee from 45 thru 46, which is what made me wonder it the knife was military on the web reference to the Navy Sheepsfoot
sactroop Posted October 24, 2017 Share #3 Posted October 24, 2017 I've got to admit I've never seen this one before. I'm curious about the intended use of the second blade.

Blair217 Posted October 24, 2017 Share #5 Posted October 24, 2017 I've got to admit I've never seen this one before. I'm curious about the intended use of the second blade. It's a castration hook for livestock. It's a castration knife. https://www.ebay.com/itm/Vintage-2-Blade-Stainless-Kutmaster-Castration-Folding-Knife/152750343115?hash=item2390a143cb:g:ahQAAOSwtKtZ3QHz
sactroop Posted October 25, 2017 Share #6 Posted October 25, 2017 So probably not a sailors knife from WW2 as I believe our pork was already canned by those days.
prestoncohunter Posted October 25, 2017 Author Share #7 Posted October 25, 2017 Thanks for the info, a search for castration knife finds this and several other makers with similar design. Sorry for the off forum topic, when I found a reference calling this a Navy Sheeps Foot I thought maybe I had stumbled across something unusual, which it is in a way but wrong subject matter.
