Image identified to a Sgt G. C. Stahr who apparently served in the signal corps. Sgt's signal corps rating on right sleeve with colorized flags & an unusual badge on his right breast pocket. To me, it looks like a half-winged torch. Note also he's wearing an officer's leather belt w/o the suicide strap. Signal corps aviation section? Dated May-12-1918 on back.

What do you guys think?

Here's a detailed image of the sleeve rating & the half-winged torch

Hmmm....now that I see a nice detailed blowup, I've noticed he's also wearing a patch on his left sleeve

Hi cthomas, does that look like chevrons with signal corp. flags below. ?????

Good eyes Lewis!

I've made mention of that rank patch in my description. He may also be wearing a similar set of Sgt's stripes on his other sleeve.

Did you notice too that the flags are made with colored thread? It maybe hard to tell with the right flag(red) , but I believe you can tell the flag on left is threaded in white.

Hi Chuck, maybe not so good the eyes, I have to say I was only really looking at the photo regarding the unusual badge on his pocket, stupidly I had failed to read your description above the photograph in the first post. pinch.gif

Optician appointment on Monday morning me thinks. think.gif

Excellent photo portrait though, I can see that.
