cthomas Posted November 5, 2008 Share #1 Posted November 5, 2008 Image identified to a Sgt G. C. Stahr who apparently served in the signal corps. Sgt's signal corps rating on right sleeve with colorized flags & an unusual badge on his right breast pocket. To me, it looks like a half-winged torch. Note also he's wearing an officer's leather belt w/o the suicide strap. Signal corps aviation section? Dated May-12-1918 on back. What do you guys think? cthomas Posted November 5, 2008 Author Share #2 Posted November 5, 2008 Here's a detailed image of the sleeve rating & the half-winged torch Hmmm....now that I see a nice detailed blowup, I've noticed he's also wearing a patch on his left sleeve

I've made mention of that rank patch in my description. He may also be wearing a similar set of Sgt's stripes on his other sleeve. Did you notice too that the flags are made with colored thread? It maybe hard to tell with the right flag(red) , but I believe you can tell the flag on left is threaded in white. -Chuck

Optician appointment on Monday morning me thinks. Excellent photo portrait though, I can see that. Cheers ( Lewis )
