stratasfan Posted October 12, 2017 Share #1 Posted October 12, 2017 Hi! I am working on a surprise display for my Uncle, whose brother was KIA in Vietnam. I am including a few links, as I don't want to post his name, in case my Uncle were to come across this. Could this vet have had the star device on his Vietnam Service Medal? I got a ribbon bar and it only needs a little changing to fit for the display, but the Vietnam Service Medal Ribbon has the star device. So, was wondering if anyone can say if he would have had it or not. https://www.abmc.gov/node/512218#.Wd-4B1uPKM8 http://www.vvmf.org/Wall-of-Faces/54319/FRANCIS-A-WALSH-JR http://www.virtualwall.org/dw/WalshFA01a.htm

mvmhm Posted October 15, 2017 Share #3 Posted October 15, 2017 Just as an FYI...you can always write to the National Military Personnel Records office in St Louis and get his medals replaced free of charge, although it will take several months to get them. The brother is also eligible for the family member certificate of honor and lapel pin from the Department of Defense' 50th anniversary of Vietnam commemoration (which you can only get through official commemorative partners, which we are)...PM if you need help with any of this....(we're in Dayton, BTW) Mark sends
