Three troopers in the PI?

Recommended Posts

I came across this photo of three cav troopers in the PI, year not specified. As you can see they are holding the Krag carbines and they have the colt revolver also but...look at the cartridge belt.....any explanations why they'd be wearing the M-1903 .30 cartridge belt and not the 30-40 Krag web belt?

Thanks

That became the replacement for the old loop belts. If you notice the later Krag bayonet scabbards has narrower wires to fit between the pockets of the Model 1903 cartridge belts.

Then loose 30-40 rounds were carried in place of 03 clips?

I presume so. I understand some Krags were still in RA service until 1909.

Thanks for the explanation....it helps with a decision, glad I came across the photo also.
