Aussie made Survival machete

Found this yesterday at a local market, fairly scarce survival machete used by both Australia and USAAF pilots, the condition of this one seems better than the norm, nice 44 dated sheath. Is this the only company that made this mode survival machete?

A great find, Fritz. Those blades are extremely scarce, especially here in the USA.

I am not sure if any other company made these machetes but I think it is certainly possible. My own example is not marked EAST BROS. Rather, my blade is unmarked except for USAAF marked on the left grip. The scabbard with my example was made by Bonney & Clark Ltd., not by Gold Seal as your example is. So, it is conceivable that there may have been at least two makers.

Have you looked in Ron Flook's book for info on this machete? I don't have my copy handy here. It is shown in Cole's III on page 142.

Regards,

Charlie

Very Nice and a great example Fritz!

Have one as well but don't recall mine being marked.

I have seen some of these used by the 5th AF crews as well
