Family Reunited with Purple Heart

When my great grandfather passed away it is thought the purple heart has either been sold or given away to charity by accident. That was 1974.

Several years into my search I came across a post in this forum referencing the Purple Heart that my great uncle John received posthumously after being KIA in WWII

After contacting the original poster I found out it had been sold....so close and yet so far from this elusive heart.

I decided to post a new thread in this forum and I am so glad I did.

Fast forward several years later. I received a message through this site from Trevor L. who let me know that the Purple Heart was being sold (on another site) and that he knew the owner and could put me in contact with him.

3 days later I had this sitting on my dining room table...

For those of you searching for a piece of your family's history don't give up!!

Thank you to all who helped out in this search.

That is awesome. So glad you cared enough to search it out and happy to know that the collector community kept it safe till you came along.

Congratulations!
