New to the forum and am trying to learn. I have the references coming as well.

Any thoughts on this badge would be greatly appreciated. If a fake, could you point out why? To me, it appears to be highly detailed without muted features and the catch looks like period examples I have seen posted here.

Any thought? Thanks!

It's a period wing however notice that its broken. This wing has been on the market for about a year now at various dealers. I don't know what there asking for it now but it was around $1200 some months ago which is way over priced for a broken wing badge.

Thanks! It sold for $1000 on ebay. Good to know that it was original, but someone "scooped" me. Thanks very much for the information!

blind pew,

Just checked the listing and it does not appear to have sold. Believe it just ended today. Watch for it to be re-listed soon, as Terry noted; This particular badge has been on the market, at various price points, for over a year.

Concur with Terry on the price. Considering the condition, especially the damage, the badge should probably be priced about 20% less to sell...

Even then, Dallas wings are not that uncommon. Real ones seem to come on the market, on average, about 2-3 times per year. You won't have to wait very long before another one comes along.

Warmest regards.

Chris

Way to much In my opinion. Fear not another will come along and the guys on this forum can steer you in the right direction should you run upon one. Just for general knowledge in your search this was a BB&B product, the Eisenstadt version has three large feathers in the shoulder. The BB&B is more common than the Eisenstadt.

Thanks guys! Great information. Again, I am starting to get awards and wings from reputable dealers primarily (Baystate, Flying Tigers, and Griffin) and the books from which I can start to learn. I know it will take years to become somewhat competent with these, but that will be fun.

Thanks again for all the input!

If you are interested in WWI wings, this forum is one of the best places to get serious information and useful help from well regarded collectors. There is a LOT of knowledge on this site, and I would urge you review many of the old threads. Also, one site you should really carefully study is Bob Schwartz wonderful web page. It is (in my opinion) THE best sources of high quality images of WWI wings. This will give you a very good ideas of what "good" WWI wings should look like.
