lugi45 Posted November 23, 2017 Author Share #26 Posted November 23, 2017 The 70th rosters are incomplete... Most of the rosters that are available are from post war Unit Histories. Some guys only did their basic training in the 70th Div and went overseas with other units in the ETO/PTO.. The painted liners were only worn during their basic training in the States. I've got a 276th IR, 70th Div liner and I can't track the original owner too.. Perhaps we own the liners of two guys who went overseas with other units..That makes more sense. I think my guy enlisted around the time the 70th was activated and began training. Possibly sent overseas to a replacement depot, then sent to a unit. I'd think radio operators would be in high demand in Normandy and afterwards. I noticed that your liner and mine are both early ones with the unpainted A washers and the folded ends on the nape strap.
