There are two for sale on eBay (see links) asking crazy money. Maybe they aren't selling on eBay so he is trying to make a quick sale on Craigs List. It looks legitimate but I'm not an expert on these knives.

I think it is a legit knife, but without the blade specific scabbard for it I would pass unless it was just a giveaway price. The correct scabbard would be pretty much impossible to find. I have never seen one on the loose.

Charlie

The price of collector knives typically increase over time.  These prices fluctuate, and COVID played a role in a faster increase.   I have not followed closely the prices for sales of these knives, but I purchased mine for just over $1000 US a couple of years ago.  I recorded a sale Aug of 2022 at $1275 US and a recent sale had a buy it now of $2999.99 US but had a best offer, so I do not know what it actually sold for.  Condition plays a role and something not all know about these knives is, many have inspection marks confirming they were/are still non magnetic.  These knives stayed in the US military system well into the late 90"s.  The thought process on these inspection marks is that those knives without inspection marks were used early in their service and removed (usually a service member would not give it back at the end of their tour in Vietnam).  This is not the case with every knife, but some feel they are worth more without inspection marks.
