mds308 Posted September 21, 2017 Share #1 Posted September 21, 2017 Hi All, Another item from my WWII-Korea Vet. I found this loose image in a WWII 306th Coast Artillery Barrage Balloon Battalion yearbook. The image measures 10" x 2" and depicts a small shanty town or village (perhaps built for training) with a sign that reads: HITLERVILLE UNINCORPORATED POPULATION ?. There is a smaller sign below but I can't make it out. On the roof of the center building is a large Nazi flag. The second building from the left has a large advertising sign that looks like a whiskey/wine bottle and the fourth building from the left has three men working on the roof. Looks like a nice place to visit but I wouldn't want to live there. Any ideas?
Jim McCauley Posted September 21, 2017 Share #2 Posted September 21, 2017 It is a training site. Can't say from which post as there were Hitlervilles on several US bases. Best regards. Jim
