Sarge8 Posted September 19, 2017 Share #1 Posted September 19, 2017 Digging through my "stuff" yesterday and ran across a grouping I purchased in 2015. Contained a man's keepsakes including ID cards, passes, 2 photos of him, diploma from Control Tower Operator course at Chanute Field in My 1943, plus Air Crew Wings marked LGB (Balfour I presume); and a leather patch as pictured. Would like to hear your comments on the leather patch. It is 4-7/8 " in diameter. Looks like a decal on leather. No holes where it had been sewn on a jacket. Looks like he was an Air Controller. Units mentioned were the 73rd Sta Comp Sqdrn and 86th Std Comp (as listed in paperwork). I'm guessing these were Communications squadrons attached to the 13th/863rd and the 362nd FG. He is mentioned in the the 362nd base newspaper dated March 1945 (also mentions the unit awarded DUC). He came home on the USS Breckinridge in Nov 1945.
