I recently picked up a usmc or usn camo poncho, no contract stamp as far as I can tell. It arrived folded and covered in talcum powder. To clean it off I was going to put it in a tub of water, but was wondering if I should add any fabric softener or soap or something else to make it more pliable? Thanks

I have seen plain warm water do the trick.

Those things are interesting in that so far I have noticed that the Walker manufactured ones stay pliable, but other manufacturers do not.

I've looked through boxes of those things over the years, and so my statement is based on observation only, not a real study.

Yeah I ended up just using warm water in the tub. I got most of the powder off. After it dried it is a little more pliable than a yard tarp. (Better than it was)

Thanks
