I have this 'frankenrig' I just got, and I'm trying to determine if it was used by some sort of Special Forces, or whether it's simply an airsofter put-together. Vest is original MOLLE LBV (buckles dated 99); it has a multicam pouch which seems to be for two pistol mags; Blackhawk holster bracket below that; twin 6 mag Blackhawk AK47 mag pouches; Molle canteen/GP pouch from 2003 contract date; and R.A.C.K. leg bag with extender. There does not appear to be much wear on any of the metal hardware, and overall it doesn't look like it's seen much use. Anyone got a guess?

Honestly no way to say 100% but IMO this is a surplus shop special. A lot of surplus dealers and low end gear seller's will throw stuff like this together to try and move a lot of stuff at once. Typically they don't do it to fool anyone but rather to make stuff go faster. In this case it's a soup sandwich, the biggest clue to this likely not having been used by SOF other then the total lack of wear and dust and the over all bad layout is the BHI holster adapter. It's in a totally inconvenient location and no holster or quick release is installed.

I think it's a put-together. gear changes so fast, especially with SOF, without the multicam pouch I'd say it's plausible, although unlikely, but I don't see these things being used half a decade or a decade later when the multicam pouch would be available.

As temping as it is You really can't make a determination based on time frames being mismatched. While I really don't think this was used I have seen a lot of rigs and helmets get upgraded and used and it's a common miscommunication that if the parts were made for apart time wise that they were not used together. I hate using this example for a number of reasons but if you look at some of the pictures of Chris Kyle you'll notice that he is using a 2002 production Eagle DG-MLCS RRV even with much later multicam combat uniforms and even added a couple of later items to it like a foliage green multitool pouch.

So it's plausible, but unlikely?

For this particular FLC I would be very surprised if it was ever used by anyone.

Just pointing out that production dates not lining up is not uncommon.
